Second Sunday of Advent – PEACE

Peace in the biblical sense is about more than just the absence of hostility, it is a wholeness experienced when you are totally reliant on God. In the story of David we see someone set apart for God despite being set aside by his family. David was the youngest, the least experienced and the last one you would expect to find victory against someone like Goliath. Yet the Lord chose him and David chose to rely on God.

When we trust God fully, we experience peace in the midst of whatever trials we are facing, not just in their absence. While David would go on to wait years for God’s promises to be fulfilled, he knew peace because He knew God. Have you felt called by God to serve in ways you don’t feel qualified? We need to believe that God is worthy of our trust and obedience, and we will experience the Peace that comes in following Him.
