The 2010 Staff
The Holy Trinity, Wonder-Counselor, Prince of Peace, God-Hero. You know it.
Our Esteemed Directors:
Bob Bacik, Senior DYMO Camp Director. Bob has a special devotion to St. Anthony of Padua, the namesake of his former parish and patron of lost items. Bob often turns to St. Anthony for help finding his keys, wallet, toothbrush and train of thought. Bob is entering his second year of priestly formation for his native Diocese of Lansing at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Unfortunately Bob will not be physically present at DYMO Camp this year because he will be in Cuernavaca, México, participating in a Spanish-language immersion program. He has already been immersed in all of the planning and preparations for Camp. ¡Gracias, Bob, y vaya con Dios!
Sally Bosch, DYMO Camp director, is married to Tim, and enjoying their new life together! They have one daughter, McKenna, and hope to have more someday soon. No matter what Sally does, she dedicates herself to it completely, whether that's family, God, work (she is an office manager for Kerkstra Services), or DYMO Camp! This is Sally's fifth year as a staff member for DYMO Camp. Each year on staff is a new adventure that she LOVES! In high school, Sally was a camper for three years. DYMO Camp gave her her superhero cape so she could soar in her Catholic faith... Come to DYMO Camp 2010.... it's an experience you will never forget nor regret!
Renee Hornby, DYMO Camp director, is a middle school teacher in Lansing (she just acts like a student). A proud alum of both Alma College (Go Scots!) and Michigan State University (Go Spartans!) Renee spends much of her time traveling or working. Having lived in Michigan all her life, she thinks it's a tragedy she's never been to Canada, so she'd like visit and say "Eh," one day.
The Rest of the Volunteer DYMO Staff:
Fr. Lou Anderson is a "retired" priest of the Diocese who still seems to work as hard as ever. He is familiar with the languages, customs, coffee houses and peoples of Korea, several European and Latin American countries, Catholic high schools and Aquinas College.
Larry Barton has not lost his mind. He's sure he has it backed up on disc somewhere. He seems equally comfortable with a guitar, a toaster, mosquito repellant, silence, cantos en español, <html>, eating with chopsticks, d20's, liturgical norms and high-school students. He is often encountered at St. Mary's Church, Grand Rapids and prayer in the style of Taizé.
Rebecca Chicklon would like to warn you that the laws of physics will be strictly enforced. She serves at Holy Family Church, Sparta.
Elizabeth Christian is a former DYMO camper who has been waiting on the edge of her seat for four years to return as staff. She is a young musician who is dedicated to her Church and the role of music ministry within it. She likes to keep a healthy balance of chaos and tranquility in her life, which might need to be rebalanced after DYMO with a month of spa treatments and Taizé meditation. She can't wait to meet the DYMO campers this summer!
Jayme Heim has been the camp nurse for the last few years. Jayme has been a nurse for 25 years and loves it. She is a Nurse Practitioner and truly believes that without God's continual blessing and guidance she could not assist those she serves. She considers it an honor to be at Camp.
Patrick Herdegen He can dance! He can sing! He can do most anything! At his church or at the Camp, he is quite the DYMO champ. He's got pro skills as a clown and never lets his people down. He is smart and knows his stuff. And now perhaps we've said enough.
Therese Jandernoa's photo was nominated to appear next to the word "dynamo" for a new dictionary. Usually that energy is directed at her family, friends and St. Patrick Church in Portland. For one exciting week, she'll focus that energy on the students at DYMO Camp.
Dave Johnson is many things to many people. Photographer, visionary, prophet, philosopher, furniture repair guy, advocate and disciple, just to name a few. Oh, as for the photographer part, you can visit http://www.flickr.com/photos/dave-johnson/ to see what he's been up to.
Ellen Kieras has the power to turn angels to stone. When she is not busy raising her children, she is sleeping. She is crazy in love with Jesus!
Fr. Larry King has been a priest in God's service for 20 years. Some people call it a "late" or "delayed" vocation; however, he call it a "matured" vocation. He got hooked on his first trip to DYMO Camp! He frequently describes Camp as "the closest thing to heaven" he has ever experienced. This will be his 25th year of involvement with DYMO!
Jim Kulfan is married to Carol, and has three children. Jim is the Parish Administrator for St. John Vianney Parish and worships at St. Pius X. Jim has been involved in various ministries for over thirty years, including being on DYMO Staff for the same period. Jim enjoys camping and golf and is nuts about Disney.
Nick Kwiek is commonly encountered around the Catholic Information Center and the Cathedral of St. Andrew. He understands that working with campfires, sincere prayer, and teens all require caution, but that fires are easily the most predictable of the three.
Dave Laidlaw will put on his happy face for DYMO. Especially if the Tiger's season is going well and graham crackers are available. He is working with youth ministry at St. Anthony of Padua parish.
Rachael Lynch is an almuna of DYMO camp and Aquinas College. Both places have positively influenced her as a person of faith and as a part of the community we call Church. This year she has had the privilege of teaching RCIA for Children with her mom at St. Francis de Sales Parish, Holland. She likes visiting friends in Grand Rapids and is a big fan of cranking up her car radio and singing at the top of her lungs. Currently her favorite song is Give Me Your Eyes, by Brandon Heath. This usually changes weekly, so make sure to check in at camp to see if it's changed. She can't wait to meet you at DYMO camp 2010!
Wild Bill (Mousel) will probably not be a future Pope, join the circus as a trapeze artist, push buttons on a particle accelerator, travel in hyperspace, own a posh hotel or eat a goose-moose burger. (Probably.) Even so, there are great things to be done! He is capable of braving the most demanding and difficult jobs, such as being a dad, a teacher and a DYMO Camp staff member.
Guine Norman has the faith to move mountains, but also has the wisdom to leave them where God put them and deal with them in more constructive ways. She is into rocks and paracletes. Well, one Rock and Paraclete specifically. She is the coordinator of youth ministry at St. Patrick's in Portland.
Erin O'Lonergan is (according to those who know her) both a woman of wonder and a wonder woman. She is caring and capricious, mild and mischievous, contemplative and curious, thoughtful and theatrical. Sometimes simultaneously. The youth of St. Pius X parish are a central part of her ministry.
Annie Otto got the opportunity to experience DYMO as a camper when she was in high school. Now she's geared up for her 5th year as part of the DYMO Staff! This year, she is once again one of the leaders for our CPC group. The students on CPC have worked so hard to come up with ideas for this year's camp, and she is geeked to see how everything will play out!
Annie's favorite TV show is The Office, her favorite book series is Harry Potter, and her favorite drink is Coca-Cola! Having fun, building relationships, and being an instrument for God to use are some of the reasons Annie is so excited for DYMO 2010!
Rebecca Roberts had the privilege of being a DYMO camper for three years in high school and is looking forward to her forth year on staff. She is a graduate of Aquinas College and her home parish is Holy Redeemer in Jenison, where she has been a youth leader of The Upper Room for eight years. She loves going to the movies, watching "The Office", anything that has to do with "Twilight", and, of course, DYMO!
Kaitlin Roberts is new to the staff this year. She is a fun and loving individual, but also a major joke-ster. She enjoys the sound of leaves blowing in the wind and she believes "koala yummies" are to die for. She also has the AMAZING ability to brush her teeth with the lights off after years of training... and there is only one rule in her book: "do NOT touch her drum set."
Alex Robinson might be living a life that will inspire comic books, feature films and a TV series. You never know.
Dianna Rottiers is back for her 7th tour on DYMO Staff. She and her husband Dave have been married 21 years, they have 3 children and raise foster puppies for Paws With a Cause. She is an '06 graduate of Aquinas College, loves churchy stuff, music, books, gardening and the hammock in the back yard. She requests prayers NOW for good weather during the week of camp.
George Rutherford
"Hey, George, what do you have to say about yourself!"
"I am 54 going on 17. I love to singing, dancing, and working with youth. I am a 'morning person', a 'midday person', an 'evening person' and a 'late night person'. I try to bring energy to all I do. I do, however, also enjoy quiet moments to reflect and take things in. My advice – COME TO DYMO – you won’t regret it."
Becky Steele is starshine captured in a physical form. This may not be obvious first thing in the morning. She is either a teacher or a mathemagician (depending on when you look.)
Joe Vezino is a graduate of Lowell High School and Michigan State University. He worked for Meijer in various postions for over 38 years and retired on October 31st, 2006. He has been married to his loving wife, Barb, for over 35 years, and has three wonderful daughters: Amy, Elizabeth and Mary Jo. He has been described as an 'at-large youth minister', as he has been involved in 20-some retreats since 2003 in four different dioceses. When he is not working on retreats he loves to hunt and fish.
Ryan "Flash" Wells is a DYMO Camp aficionado and lover of mac-n-cheese. A former four year camper and amateur tornado chaser, he is random and likes to talk. He fancies shiny things, blue colored objects, and interesting, but pleasant aromas. He currently attends Aquinas College, in pursuit of a High School Science teaching degree, because, when isn't high school science fun? Soon he will head out into the world and tell students about interesting facts, such as thermite burns at over 2500 degress C, and that water is the most useful substance on Earth.
Jan Wilcox Would like to remind you that if you don't know the answer, then double check to see if you know the question. She is the Director of High School Youth Ministry and Youth Confirmation at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Portage.
